Sketch the curve The curve is an ellipse that cuts the x-axis at ±3 and the y-axis at ±1. To sketch the curve, we first draw the rectangle x= ±3, y = ±1 with dotted lines and then inscribe the ellipse in the rectangle. The ellipse, shown in Figure 5.5.4, is horizontal. Figure 5.5.4
