Natural processes normally show a random behavior to some extent. This
is of course also true for the reaction time to some audio-visual signals.
You may try this by yourself by starting the following 
.
This application creates visual and/or auditive signals to which you have
to react by clicking at a button. The reaction times are recorded and can
be loaded into the DataLab to perform some statistical calculations.
For a typical experiment, you should perform 20 runs and store the results
in a file. Thereafter, start up 
and
calculate the mean and the standard deviation.
Try to repeat this experiment under different conditions and check whether
there are significant differences between the outcomes. You could, for
example, measure the reaction time in the morning and in the late evening.
