Addition:
s + t is a scalar A + B is a vector s + A is undefined
Multiplication:
st is a scalar sA is a vector A · B is a scalar A × B is a vector
Division:
 s/t is a scalar A/f is a vector s/B and A/B are undefined
Absolute value and length :

|s| is a scalar

|A| is a scalar

One must be careful in forming longer expressions. For example,

A · (B + C) is a scalar,

(A · B) + C is undefined,

(A · B)C is a vector.
